The Combined Art Societies of Sydney or CASS is run by a small group of volunteers who are dedicated and enthusiastic Art Society members.

Their aim is to unite and strengthen the standing of art societies in our community, to gain greater recognition for art societies, and to encourage a standard of excellence among individual artists within our societies. The CASS at this time has fifteen member societies.

The Art of Sydney Awards Exhibition – ONLINE!

The annual Art of Sydney Awards Exhibition is a premier event showcasing the work of artists from the fourteen member societies which together are the Combined Art Societies of Sydney (CASS). In 2020, the 30th annual exhibition was held at the Australian National Maritime Museum’ Terrace Room, overlooking Darling Harbour, where over 300 original artworks were displayed. The results from 2020 and a gallery of works are available at our Art of Sydney 2020 gallery.

For 2021 CASS has taken the opportunity to take the Art of Sydney online! This will be an exciting exhibition quite different from the one we are all familiar with  – though some things will stay the same. The exhibition will continue to be a juried event and we are extremely pleased and honoured to have renowned artist Mr John Haycraft as our judge. We will have all our usual categories of entry and are excited to return the 9″ x 5″ award, making a total of six categories. As this is online, some of the requirements associated with a physical display no longer apply and artists can take advantage of the format flexibility letting their creativity expand and flourish while maintaining the highest quality that our patrons have come to expect from the Art of Sydney.

The online exhibition will be available from January 15th 2021 to February 28th 2021. Information for members is available on the Art of Sydney 2021 webpage

Art at the Top

The Combined Art Societies of Sydney have deferred the Art at the Top workshop weekend to 2021 as a result of the uncertain world we live in at the moment. The event is now (hopefully and fingers crossed) scheduled for 26th to 29th November next year and CASS are happy to announce that almost all our tutors who planned to be there this year are putting this it in their diaries for 2021. Thank you to everyone for your support and please stay safe and keep well.

Art in the Mountains

Again due to the current situation with our collective health uppermost in mind, The Combined Art Societies of Sydney in partnership with Gallery ONE88 Fine Arts, have postponed the planned exhibition of members’ works and our new dates are 27th July to 15th August 2021.
